A recent announcement from DMB/Highlands Group, the developers of Martis Camp, revealed that club members and guests should soon be able to access Northstar-at-TahoeTM ski resort's extensive system of ski trails directly from the resort's property via a proposed lift extension, subject to the approval of Placer County and other regulatory agencies. In addition to noticeably expanding the acreage of ski terrain available to winter sports enthusiasts everywhere, extending the ski lift onto the Martis Camp property would place this premier residential community in an elite group of resorts. "This proposed, direct access to Northstar-at-TahoeTM puts Martis Camp in a class with only a handful of other residential communities in the Western United States," said Mark Johnson, a DMB/Highlands Principal. "It also demonstrates our ongoing commitment to provide a broad variety of unparalleled experiences within the Martis Camp community." Martis Camp has already established a reputation as a luxury residential community with unrivaled four-season amenities. In addition to an extensive system of neighborhood parks and trails, Martis Camp features a Tom Fazio-designed championship golf course, a 50,000-plus square-foot Camp Lodge that serves the golf course and community, and a Family Barn with a summer swimming venue, soda fountain, bowling lanes, movie theatre, and outdoor amphitheater with performance stage. The benefits of a newly lengthened ski lift would be two fold. First, it will allow Martis Camp club members and their guests to directly access Northstar-at-Tahoe'sTM extensive system of ski trails in only 6 minutes via a state-of-the-art Doppelmayr-built detachable quad chair. Second, the lift will be supported by a base facility, where club members will have exclusive access to convenient services such as ski and boot storage, lift ticket and ski lesson purchases, and the hospitality of a good old-fashioned warming hut and sun deck. But Martis Camp owners aren't the only ones expected to enjoy newly expanded ski terrain. The length of the Lookout Mountain Lift® is proposed to be increased from 2,850 feet to 5,100 feet, enabling all Northstar-at-TahoeTM skiers to enjoy longer and more varied ski runs. The proposed trail expansion project adds 46 acres of ski trails, including 35 acres of snow-making coverage. "The extension of these ski areas to Martis Camp is a natural extension of Lookout Mountain's lift and trails, which will allow Northstar-at-TahoeTM Resort guests to enjoy an enhanced overall skiing experience," offered Chris Ryman, speaking on behalf of Northstar-at-TahoeTM Resort owners and operators. Without ongoing cooperative efforts between Martis Camp developers, Martis Valley conservation groups and local governing authorities, DMB/Highlands representatives explain, none of these proposed improvements would be possible. It is anticipated that Martis Camp club members and guests should expect to start enjoying the benefits of on-site ski slope access as early as winter 2009. |
