SAM VARNER, director of wellness at The Cliffs Communities and a nationally renowned wellness expert, writes about the benefits of weight training for those over the age of 45. Early in his career, Sam was the strength coach for Clemson University’s National Championship football team. Since then, he has trained seven Olympic medalists, and he works with a number of celebrity clients. Sam is working on his fifth book, “Living Wellness,” a comprehensive health program designed to optimize physical, emotional, mental and spiritual well-being.

Committed to turning her pursuit of pleasure into a career, ERIKA LENKERT became a freelance journalist and entertaining expert nearly a decade ago. Since then, she has been trotting the globe writing about food, wine, travel and entertaining for magazines such as In Style, Food & Wine and Everyday with Rachael Ray. Along the way, she co-authored the trendsetting cookbook “Raw: The Un-cook Book” and authored “The Last-Minute Party Girl: Fashionable, Fearless, and Foolishly Simple Entertaining.”

MATTHEW ARKINS is a photographer and director/cinematographer with an extensive background in commercial production, feature films, music videos and documentary work for companies such as The Discovery Channel and National Geographic. For Matthew’s first contribution to Resort Living, he traveled to photograph the gorgeous landscape and luxurious lifestyle found at Mammoth Mountain in Mammoth Lakes, Calif.

Noted architect, author and workplace designer NEAL ZIMMERMAN has planned office environments for more than 30 years. His feature article on home office design offers expert advice from his most recent book, “Taunton’s Home Workplace Idea Book” (Taunton Press, 2002). A member of the American Institute of Architects, Neal designs workplaces, consults and writes about design subjects from his own home office in West Hartford, Ct.

Where there’s golf, there’s SCOTT MICHAUX, a golf writer based out of Augusta, Ga., who has written on every Major golf tournament, not to mention more than 20 different PGA Tour events. Scott takes time to sit down with two IMI-sponsored golfers who may love golf even more than he does: Dana and Brett Quigley. Scott is the lead sports columnist for The Augusta (Ga.) Chronicle, and he has contributed to a number of distinctive publications including Forbes magazine, The Masters Journal and the PGA Tour’s Official Annual.

MARK CROSBY’S photographs are the subject of several photography books, including “New York Christmas,” and “New York: The Ultimate Photographic Journey.” His work has also been used by The Metropolitan Opera Company and NYC 2012, the nonprofit group formed to bring the 2012 Summer Olympics to NYC. For this issue of Resort Living, Mark captured lifestyle images from IMI’s annual AT&T Pro-Am event at Pebble Beach.

SCOTT KEFFER is a nationally recognized financial educator, consultant and speaker, making regular radio and television appearances on wealth preservation. He’s also an accomplished writer, contributing to two advanced wealth-planning books: “Love, Money and Control: Reinventing Estate Planning” and “Giving: Philanthropy for Everyone.” Keffer shares compelling stories with Resort Living of how the wealthy failed to protect their wealth.
